Summary:
After President Tramp came to power, the US-Iran relationship is deteriorating. The US exited from the Nuclear Agreement (JCPOA), and strengthened economic sanctions against Iran. The sanctions imposed on Iran today are said to be the most severe in history. Why are America and Iran in conflict? This lecture will explain the root causes of the conflict and focus on geopolitical and economic development of the Middle East since the downfall of Saddam Hussein in Iraq in 2003. Some attentions are paid on the relationship among Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and America, and on the future of the US-Iran relationship as well as Iran’s politics toward the US.
