Public Lecture

Israel-Arab Normalization of Relations and the U.S. Diplomacy

Date: 2020/10/31 13:00-14:20
Place: zoom platform
Lecture: Prof. NAKAMUR Satoru ( the Graduate School of Intercultural Studies in Kobe University)
The Trump Administration mediated the normalization of relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, as well as Israel and Bahrain in late summer 2020. The Palestinians criticized the normalization for it would hamper the two-state solution to the Israeli–Palestinian conflict. The major questions arising from this new situation are: What is the true goal in the normalization between Israel and the Arab states? Will the U.S. Presidential election affect Saudi Arabia too in normalizing its ties with Israel? The political stand of Israel, UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and the two U.S. Presidential candidates will be examined.
