Study abroad has a long and storied tradition in the curricula of liberal arts colleges in the United States. But an academic adventure that once focused almost exclusively on traditional European arts and humanities now often features specialized study in remote locations throughout the world, and a wide selection of offerings on such subjects as religion, science, ecology, economics, popular culture, and others. How are schools and students creating and responding to these new trends in study abroad?
